Tänään tehtiin harjoitteluiden aikataulut. Ensi maanantaina 8.10 alkaa iäkkäiden harjoittelu, jonka suoritan aikuisten sisätautien osastolla (1,5 viikkoa), kirurgisella urologisella osastolla (1,5vk) ja viimeisen viikon olen paikallisessa vanhainkodissa. Tämän jälkeen teen mielenterveystyönharjoittelun, jonka aloitan UTH:n omalla psykiatrisella klinikalla ja tämän jälkeen vaihdan mielisairaalaan, jossa olen 4 viikkoa. Yhden mielenterveysharjoittelun viikosta käytän maaseudulla, mutta siellä teen mitä sattuu, enimmäkseen terveyden edistämistä.
Työajatkin päätettiin samalla teen vain aamuvuoroja, ma ja ti 7.30-16 ja ke-pe 7.30-13(14) ja viikonloput vapaat, mutta täällä Lusakassa ei ole mitään tekemistä, joten katsotaan minne pääsen menemään, ainakin Victorian putouksille ja safarillakin olisi kiva käydä. Teen kaikki harjoittelut nyt peräkkäin ilman lomaviikkoa, joten harjoittelut loppuvat 14.12, jonka jälkeen lomailen 7.1 asti jolloin lentoni lähtee takaisin Suomeen.
Today I took my first real shower here (see the picture of the shower). It is going to be annoying to wash my hair, not much water and it is freezing cold. I just may need to join to the gym so I can take real shower. Today I had nsihma, traditional zambian food (kind of corn porridge) with chicken first time and you need to eat it with hands, so that was an experience. Today was an easy day, not much to do, except in the morning planning our clinical practice wards, but other than that we had day off. Me and my flatmates went to the Swedish school as they have pool there, so it was nice to have a swim in the pool to cool down and rehabilitate my knee after all the walking what I am doing in here. Walking journey to the pool takes about 20min, so after coming back from there I needed to rest. Rest of the evening I just spend on the internet and resting in my tent (see the picture).
On monday I will start my clinical practices, so now I have a couple days to do no nothing, and experience Zambian lifestyle. Tomorrow me and Edwin have planned to go to the shopping centre called Mandahill, to have a look around and buy some food and Zambian sim-card for me.
We don’t have internet during the weekend as we use university’s wireless connection and they switch it off at Friday night and back on on Monday morning. So, if you don’t hear about me during the weekends don’t worry, I will post as soon as I have internet connection.
